Bound copper engraving, 2025.
From a series of illustrations for the first chapters of The Book of Genesis.
“Adonai Elohim sent him away from the Garden of Eden, to work the ground from which he had been taken. And He expelled the man; and at the east of the Garden of Eden He had cheruvim dwell along, with the whirling sword of flame, to guard the way to the Tree of Life.“ Genesis 3:23-24
The frame is engraved with verses from Song of Songs chapter 5, a passage of ancient erotic poetry, in the original Hebrew.
“…My hands dripped with myrrh,
yes, my fingers with flowing myrrh,
on the handles of the lock.
I opened to my lover—
but my lover had departed,
he was gone.
My soul went out to him when he spoke…
…The guards on the walls took my veil from me.“
