Description

Saturday, March 15, we will be holding a two-person exhibition featuring Tatsuma Segawa and Erica Suzuki.

This marks the second collaboration between the two artists, exactly two years after their last joint exhibition. As mentioned in the exhibition announcement, through our conversations over time, the title “Observation and Garden” has continued to resonate strongly, leading us to hold this exhibition under the same name once again.

Expressing something in one’s own words is both difficult and significant. We deeply respect the meaning behind this title and feel honored to carry it forward. Our hope is to create an exhibition that leaves a lasting impression on all visitors. We invite you to mark your calendars for this special event.

“Observation and Garden” – Tatsuma Segawa & Erica Suzuki

Exhibition Period|Saturday, March 15 – Saturday, March 22, 2025 (Closed on March 17 & 18)

Opening Hours|12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Artist in Attendance|Saturday, March 15

Tatsuma Segawa and Erica Suzuki first met as classmates at the Tajimi City Pottery Design and Technical Center. The title “Observation and Garden” originates from their first joint exhibition at a rental gallery in Tajimi in 2013. At that time, Segawa named his work “Observation”, while Suzuki called hers “Garden”, each reflecting the essence of their artistic expression.

Segawa’s “Observation” evokes a sense of rationality and scientific precision, intertwined with the philosophical and mystical nature of astronomy. In contrast, Suzuki’s “Garden” conveys organic fluidity, freedom, and an intuitive exploration of space and expression.

Now, two years after their last exhibition, the contrast between their artistic approaches appears even more distinct. At the same time, their underlying philosophies remain consistently rooted in their creative identities.

Through their collaboration, the multifaceted beauty of ceramics will be revealed from two different perspectives, making for an intriguing and insightful exhibition. We warmly invite you to visit and experience the dialogue that emerges between their works.
