Please introduce yourself

My name is kiki

What sparked your interest in fashion?

Studying landscape architecture opened my eyes to the world of design in a broader sense. The principles of composition, color theory, and spatial awareness that I learned in landscape architecture easily translated to fashion. I began to see clothing as a form of wearable architecture, where each piece could be designed and structured with the same care and creativity

Why do you prefer avant-garde artisan brands?

I personally prefer these brands as they emphasize meticulous craftsmanship and unique materials.

The attention to detail and dedication to traditional techniques result in garments that are well-made and durable, standing out in a world often dominated by fast fashion.

Could you tell us about the brands that have influenced your fashion taste up to now?

My interest in avant-garde brands began in high school. During this time, I frequently searched the internet and used social media to discover new and unconventional fashion labels.

When I discovered the pioneering work of Carpe Diem, founded by Maurizio Altieri in 1996. The brand’s emphasis on artisanal craftsmanship and experimental designs immediately captivated me.

I was particularly drawn to their philosophy of using high-quality materials and unique construction techniques, such as creating garments from a single piece of fabric. Despite its closure in 2006, Carpe Diem’s influence lives on through the individual brands of its original designers, including Altieri’s m_moria, Maurizio Amadei’s m.a+, Simone Cecchetto’s A1923, and Luca Laurini’s Label Under Construction.

These designers continue to expand on the innovative work they began at Carpe Diem, which has significantly shaped my fashion taste and appreciation for avant-garde design.

<About Her Favorite Designers>

I don’t have a single favorite designer, as I appreciate several avant-garde brands equally. Initially, I focused on the brand names and their philosophies, such as those from Carpe Diem and its offshoots.

However, my priorities have shifted, and now I care more about the mobility and practicality of the pieces in my daily life. I admire designers who balance innovative, artistic designs with functionality and comfort, allowing me to integrate avant-garde fashion seamlessly into my everyday routine.

<About Recent Purchase>

The most recent purchase I am pleased with is a hairpin by Parts of Four. I love this piece because it strikes the perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics.

Its design is versatile enough to wear every day without feeling repetitive or boring. The hairpin is both useful and visually appealing, making it a standout accessory that complements my style while adding a unique touch to my daily look.

<Her thoughts on fashion trends>

I don’t follow fashion trends. Instead, I find styling inspiration from daily life and the diverse individuals I encounter, including people from various walks of life.

This approach allows me to create a personal style that is unique and authentic, reflecting real-life experiences and observations rather than fleeting fashion trends. By drawing inspiration from diverse sources, I can craft looks that are practical, meaningful, and true to who I am.
